AL TARFA: WINNER OF TATLER 2010 TRAVEL AWARD

In a splendid party at The Ritz London to celebrate the 300th Anniversary of the famous Conde Nast Publication, TATLER, Al TARFA DESERT SANCTUARY LODGE & SPA was publicized WINNER OF TATLER TRAVEL AWARD 2010. The award was received by Mr. Wael Abed, Chairman of Camps & Lodges of Egypt (a subsidiary of Orascom Hotels Holding) who later presented the project’s concept, vision and objectives through meetings with the press, held at the Egyptian Tourist Authority’s Office in London. Al Tarfa wishes to thank all its guests, partners, colleagues and members of staff who were the key to such prestigious success. Special thanks go to Issy Von Simson of Conde Nast’s Tatler in the UK who wrote the following description of Al Tarfa in the 2010 Tatler Travel guide: “Nowhere does desert-smart like Egypt, and here in Dakhla – a secret oasis at the end of a road less travelled – is a new little beauty. This isolation for the intrepid traveller, where the Bulgaris and the De Niros come to escape the glare. Al Tarfa pops up like a mirage: an eco lodge surrounded by dusky- pink cliffs, apricot sand-dunes and sun-baked sky. The cool thick-walled rooms are straight out of the Cote Sud, with open fireplaces, beamed ceilings and dove-grey French armchairs. Come here for adventures in an ancient landscape, for most perfectly preserved Roman relics and Pharaonic temples you’ll ever clip eyes on. Camel trek along the horizon, dip in primordial springs and feast on sweet Egyptian cakes. It’s soul-stirring stuff.” (with permission; Photo by Hugo Bernand for Tatler Magazine)
